Use Zoning mode in Rus

Ask zoning questions in the Rus preview mode when your municipal code bundle and access allow it.

Zoning is a preview mode in a new project Rus chat for zoning and land use questions. It appears as a tab above the message box when you have access to preview modes and have selected a municipal code bundle. If you do not see the tab, check the selected bundle and your access.

The mode can ask for project details in a form within the conversation. Read each question and provide the facts you know; verify prefilled values against your project information.

  1. Open your project and go to the Rus tab.
  2. In Context, choose the municipal code bundle for the project's jurisdiction.
  3. If available, select the Zoning tab above the new-chat message box.
  4. Ask a specific zoning question, or request a broader zoning analysis.
  5. If a project-details form appears, fill in the relevant values and submit it.
  6. Review the answer or analysis alongside its citations. Check the code edition, district, site facts, and any assumptions before using the result.

What kinds of questions work well:

  • "What is the maximum FAR for this lot?"
  • "What uses are permitted in an R6 district?"
  • "Run a full zoning analysis for my project."
  • "Does our proposed height comply with the height limit?"
  • "What are the parking requirements for a mixed-use building?"

The format depends on the question: a focused question may produce a prose answer, while a broad analysis may produce a structured table. If information is missing, supply the specific dimensions or conditions in a follow-up. For a saved project-wide analysis with editable sections and history, use the separate Zoning analysis workspace.
