What Are the Types of Citations Provided?

Understand the difference between code citations, municipal citations, and PDF page citations from project documents or firm data.

Rus citations tell you where an answer came from. They are there so you can verify the answer instead of treating it like a black box.

You will typically see two practical citation patterns:

  • Code citations: Rus cites the relevant code chapter and section. When a direct source link exists, clicking the citation opens that source. For municipal references, ArchiBoost tries to point you to the latest code source available in the system, often an ICC, municipal code, or PDF-backed reference.
  • Document citations: When Rus uses your uploaded project documents or firm data, citations are attached at the PDF page level. Clicking them opens the referenced document page inside the app.

Document citations are page-based, not sentence-by-sentence markups. They are meant to help you jump directly to the source page and confirm the interpretation yourself.

Inspect a cited PDF page

Open the citation to jump to its referenced page. Use the PDF viewer's page navigation to read adjacent pages, zoom in to inspect text or drawing notes, and pan around the enlarged page. Check the document name and page before comparing the source with Rus's interpretation.

A PDF page number can differ from the sheet number printed on a drawing. If the source does not load, check your connection and source access, then reopen the citation. For review findings tied to drawing locations, see Drawings and ticket boxes.
