Compare Drawings with Overlays
Stack related drawing sheets, control their appearance, and review ticket boxes in one QA/QC canvas.
The Overlays tab lets you compare related drawing sheets on one canvas. Alignment can take time after a canvas is created; check the canvas status before judging how well the sheets line up.
The workspace has three levels:
- An overlay group collects related canvases, usually by floor, level, or area.
- An overlay canvas is one comparison workspace.
- A layer is one drawing sheet inside that canvas. The base layer is the fixed reference; the other sheets appear above it.
- Open a QA/QC request and select the Overlays tab.
- Choose an overlay group and canvas. If you need a new comparison, use the available create-canvas action to choose a base sheet and one or more overlay sheets.
- Use Fit to place all sheets in view. Drag empty canvas space to pan and scroll at the pointer to zoom.
- Use a layer checkbox to include that sheet in batch actions. Select all targets every overlay sheet but not the fixed base.
- Use the eye to show or hide sheets, T to show or hide drawing text, the color swatch to change tint, and the layer-name hover control to change opacity.
- Choose Save to keep changes to the canvas. Unsaved changes can be stepped through with Undo and Redo; the app asks whether to save or discard them before some navigation actions.
Batch controls. When several checkboxes are selected, visibility and text actions apply to the selected sheets together. Color and opacity remain per-layer controls so each discipline can keep a distinct appearance.
Layer button reference.
- Checkbox: select or clear a layer for batch visibility and text actions.
- Color swatch: change that layer's tint.
- Opacity: hover the layer name and drag the slider that appears.
- Eye: show or hide the layer.
- T: switch between the normal and text-free sheet image when both are available.
Tickets and boxes. Open the ticket panel on the right, then select a ticket card. The canvas focuses that ticket's projected box and shows the drawing sheets linked to the issue. In the ticket detail, select a linked drawing to leave the overlay and open the source sheet. Use the back arrow to return to the ticket list.
Visibility, text, tint, and opacity change the comparison display. Check the original drawing and ticket before acting on a projected box. See Review results.
