Lead AI Research Engineer
Role Overview
Archiboost AI is building an AI co-pilot for the AEC industry — automating code compliance, structuring firm knowledge, and performing real-time QA/QC across complex building projects. As Lead AI Research Engineer, you will define and drive the core intelligence behind Archiboost: geometry understanding, BIM parsing, and semantic reasoning over regulatory codes. You will work at the frontier of applied ML — turning architectural drawings, models, and specifications into structured knowledge that powers compliance, design validation, and project intelligence.
What You'll Work On
- Novel ML architectures for geometric and spatial reasoning over architectural drawings
- Vector-native BIM parsing and structural understanding at scale
- Semantic rule mapping between regulatory code language and design artifacts
- Retrieval and reasoning systems over large, heterogeneous AEC datasets
- Evaluation frameworks for domain-specific AI performance and reliability
- Research to production pipelines for geometry, vision, and language models
Responsibilities
- Lead technical research on geometry, BIM, and multimodal AI for AEC workflows
- Design and implement novel model architectures suited to architectural data
- Drive the research-to-production pipeline for AI capabilities
- Collaborate with product and engineering to translate research into shipped features
- Establish evaluation standards and benchmarks for domain-specific AI
- Mentor engineers and contribute to the technical direction of the team
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of ML/AI research or applied research engineering experience
- Strong publication record or equivalent industry research output
- Deep expertise in at least one of: computer vision, geometric ML, NLP, or multimodal learning
- Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX)
- Experience taking research from prototype to production
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with architectural, BIM, or CAD data
- Familiarity with regulatory document understanding or structured knowledge extraction
- LLM fine-tuning, RAG, or agent system design
- PhD in ML, Computer Vision, Robotics, or related field
Ideal Candidate
A researcher who thrives at the intersection of applied ML and real-world systems. You care about impact as much as rigor — and you want your work to show up in tools that professionals use every day.
